Introduction:
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is the second most visited and admired trekking destination in the Annapurna Region and one of the Great Walks of the Himalayas, taking you to the amphitheater of the Annapurna Mountains and the base camp of the globally famed Annapurna Mountain.
The Annapurna Region offers treks of all lengths, with endless Panoramas of the Annapurna Himalayas. Still, the Annapurna Sanctuary is among the mid-length, most adventurous treks that take you into the massive Himalayas.
The Great Walk to Annapurna Sanctuary starts with a short drive from Pokhara to the trailhead and ends with a short drive back to Pokhara; you can also start and end in Pokhara city. The trek begins with a walk through the cultural villages of Dhampus, Landruk, and Chhomrong and ends at Ghandruk.
Most ethnic groups you will meet on the trail are Chhetris and Brahmans, with a Gurung majority and Trans-Himalayan culture. You can combine or extend the Annapurna Sanctuary trek with the Ghorepani Trek, Khayer or Khopra, or the Mardi Himal Trek; all these routes offer some of the most scenic views on the southwestern face of the Annapurna Massif.
The Journey to Annapurna Sanctuary also includes a visit to Pokhara City, one of Nepal’s most beautiful tourist destinations, and six UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu.
