Introduction

This 15-day Jiri to Peekye and Junbesi Trek includes two full days of cultural touring in the Kathmandu Valley, plus an 11-day trek through the lesser-visited sacred Peekye Peak to Junbesi and Phalu, the Solukhumbu district headquarters. This stunning journey begins in Kathmandu (1,350 m), where you will explore sacred and historic sites like Swayambhunath Stupa, Patan Durbar Square, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and ancient Ason Bazaar. After a scenic drive to Jiri (1,900 m), the trek starts through traditional Sherpa villages and dense mid-hill forests.

The Jiri to Peekye and Junbesi Trek trail passes through Deurali (3,230 m), Bhandar, and the cultural hub of Golla Village, where you can experience daily Sherpa life and visit local monasteries. As you ascend to Chhamdingma (3,640 m), Peekye Peak Base Camp, you are rewarded with grand panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Gauri Shanker, Numbur Himal, and peaks like Manaslu, Annapurna, Langtang, and Ganesh Himal. A sunrise excursion to Peekye Lookout offers a breathtaking east-to-west Himalayan panorama: Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Everest, and the entire western range.

The journey continues through Jasawarngyang to Junbesi (2,700 m), home to the significant Thupten Chöling Monastery. After a cultural day visiting the monastery and learning about its revered history, the trek heads to Phurteng for sunrise and sunset views of Everest. The final trekking day leads to Phaplu (2,425 m) via the cliffside Chiwang Monastery, followed by a flight or scenic drive back to Kathmandu.

This extraordinary 15-day program, the Jiri to Peekye and Junbesi Trek, concludes in Kathmandu with visits to three of the most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Pashupatinath temple, the medieval city of Bhaktapur, and the Great Boudhanath Stupa.
