Everest Sightseeing Helicopter Tour
The Everest Sightseeing Helicopter Tour is one of the most exciting tours in the World, and any of our effort to describe its grandeur and scenery are incomplete.
Tour Highlights
Our Everest Sightseeing Helicopter Tour starts from Kathmandu Airport with a close-up view of Mount Tseringma (Gaurishanker) and Numbur Himalayan range, the two most beautiful mountain ranges enjoyed from most of the lowlands of Dolakha, Ramechhap and Solukhumbu districts. The flight then lands at the legendary airport of Lukla for refuelling while we get a chance to enjoy the beautiful sceneries from the airport. The helicopter then takes off to Everest Basecamp over the DudhKoshi River valley with beautiful landscapes and mountain summits limiting both valleys’ skylines. As we near Namche village, the great masses of the mountains surround us in all directions. The flight continues over the Sherpa villages of Namche, Khumjung, Phortse, Tengboche, Pangboche, and Dingboche with incredible mountain summits, including the impressive scenery Mount Ama Dablam, the most preferred, challenging and climbed 6,800 metres mountain in the Everest region. Crossing the Ama Dablam, it flies over the Imjatse valley providing the best views of Makalu, Baruntse, Island Peak, Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse and its awe-inspiring wall. Then the flight enters Lobuche through the Kongma La pass, a beautiful pass between Chhukung and Lobuche.
The flight lands at Kalapathar’s lookout, above the Gorakshep and Everest Basecamp. Kalapathar is a world-famed viewpoint to enjoy the best view of Everest from its nearest location. We stop here for 20 minutes, take essential photographs, admire Everest’s grandeur and beauty, and of course, Mount Pumori, the most imposing 7,000 metres peak in front of Everest, and a 360-degree panorama around standing on top of Kalapathar.
We board the return flight, and this time, we fly over the Everest base camp and see the Khumbu Icefall, the most challenging section for all Everest climbers. Then the flight hovers over the base camp and lets us enjoy an impressive view of the Khumbu glacier and surrounding panorama. Next, the trip takes us to Gokyo Valley over the Cho-La pass, with remarkable views of Tawoche, Cholatse, and Lobuje Peaks. Next, the helicopter hovers over the Ngozumba glacier at Gokyo to let us enjoy the impressive views of the total glacier, Gyachung Kang, Cho-Oyu, Machhermotse, and Gokyo Lakes. The flight then crosses the Renjo-La pass to Thame Valley with a beautiful view of Cho-Oyu, Pasang LhamuChuli, and Nangpa-La pass, one of the World’s highest and famed passes between Nepal and Tibet. We also enjoy the views of Thame village, TashiLapcha, PhapchhermoPeak, and Kongde and repeat the impressive views of Namche and Kusum Kangrum mountains to the eastern skyline while heading toward Kongde resort. Then finally, we land at Kongde Resort and stop for a hearty breakfast enjoying the complete view of the Khumbu region and one of the best views of Mount Everest!
The flight back is equally beautiful, with magnificent sceneries of the Dudh Kunda mountain range, uncountable impressive valleys, and beautiful mountain sceneries that fill the northern skyline of central Nepal until we land back at the airport in Kathmandu. This itinerary does not compare to any other sightseeing flight itineraries.
