Everest Sightseeing Helicopter Tour
The Everest Sightseeing Helicopter Tour is one of the most exciting tours in the World, and any of our effort to describe its grandeur and scenery are incomplete.
Our Everest Sightseeing Helicopter Tour starts from Kathmandu Airport, offering a close-up view of Mount Tseringma (Gaurishanker) and the Numbur Himalayan range, two of the most beautiful mountain ranges visible from much of the lowlands of Dolakha, Ramechhap, and Solukhumbu districts. The flight then lands at the legendary Lukla airport for refuelling, and you will have a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery from there. The helicopter then takes off for Everest Base Camp over the Dudh Koshi River valley, with stunning landscapes and mountain summits framing both valleys’ skylines. As we near Namche village, the great masses of the mountains surround us in all directions. The flight continues over the Sherpa villages of Namche, Khumjung, Phortse, Tengboche, Pangboche, and Dingboche, with incredible mountain summits, including the impressive Mount Ama Dablam, the most preferred, challenging, and climbed 6,800-metre mountain in the Everest region. Crossing Ama Dablam, it flies over the Imja valley, offering the best views of Makalu, Baruntse, Island Peak, Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse, and their awe-inspiring walls. Then the flight enters Lobuche through the Kongma La pass, a beautiful pass between Chhukung and Lobuche.
The flight lands at Kalapathar’s lookout, above the Gorakshep and Everest Basecamp. Kalapathar is a world-famous viewpoint offering the best view of Everest from its closest location. We stop here for 20 minutes, take essential photographs, admire Everest’s grandeur and beauty, and, of course, Mount Pumori, the most imposing 7,000-metre peak in front of Everest, and a 360-degree panorama from standing on top of Kalapathar.
You will board the return flight, and this time, you will fly over the Everest base camp and see the Khumbu Icefall, the most challenging section for all Everest climbers. Then the flight hovers over the base camp, allowing us to enjoy an impressive view of the Khumbu glacier and the surrounding panorama. Next, the trip takes us to Gokyo Valley over the Cho-La pass, with remarkable views of Tawoche, Cholatse, and Lobuje Peaks. Next, the helicopter hovers over the Ngozumba glacier at Gokyo to let us enjoy the impressive views of the total glacier, Gyachung Kang, Cho-Oyu, Machhermotse, and Gokyo Lakes. The flight then crosses the Renjo-La pass to Thame Valley, offering beautiful views of Cho-Oyu, Pasang Lhamu Chuli, and the Nangpa La pass, one of the World’s highest and most famed passes between Nepal and Tibet. You will also enjoy views of Thame village, TashiLapcha, PhapchhermoPeak, and Kongde, and you will repeat the impressive views of Namche and Kusum Kangrum mountains in the eastern skyline as you head toward Kongde resort. Finally, we arrive at Kongde Resort and stop for a hearty breakfast, enjoying panoramic views of the Khumbu region and one of the best views of Mount Everest!
The flight back is equally beautiful, with magnificent views of the Dudh Kunda mountain range, countless impressive valleys, and a northern skyline filled with mountains that stretch across central Nepal until you land back at Kathmandu airport. This itinerary does not compare to any other sightseeing flight itineraries.
