Trek Grading

Being a mountainous country, Nepal is more appropriate to think about the hour(s) spent walking rather than the miles covered; this is what we use in our grading system. A typical day’s walk lasts five to seven hours and involves several ascents and descents.

Easy:

Usually, 4-5 hours of walking daily, with an elevation below 3500m and the occasional steep path. And the trekking trail mostly goes through villages and suites for all age groups.

Moderate:

Relatively low altitude treks, crossing passes below 4500m, and 5 to 6 hours of walking each day.

Challenging:

12 to 15 days of continuous walking through wild country, including snow-covered high passes of about 4500m to 5200m, with 6 or 7 hours of walking (walking each day).

Most Challenging:

Long-distance walk in the wilderness with high passes. Especially hard for porters and Sherpa helpers to continue with their daily service. The success or completion of the trek may depend on the weather condition, including an increase in rivers, landslides, heavy snowfall, difficult-to-find trails, etc.
