Nepal Destination

Grade

Nepal, being a mountainous country, is more appropriate to think in terms of hour(s) spent walking, rather than the miles covered; this is what we use in our grading system. A typical day’s walk lasts from five to seven hours and involves a number of ascents and descents.

Easy:
Usually 4-5 hrs of walking, each day, with an elevation below 3500m and the occasional steep path. Adn the trekking trail mostly going through villages and suiting to all age groups.

Moderate:
Relatively low altitude treks, crossing passes below 4500m, and 5 to 6 hrs walking each day.

Challenging:
Up to 12 to 15 days continuous walking through wild country, including snow-covered high passes of about 4500m to 5200m with 6 or 7 hrs of walk (walking each day).

Most Challenging:
Long distance walk in the wilderness with high passes. Especially hard for porters and sherpa helper to continue with their daily service. The success or completion of the trek may depend on the weather condition including increase of river, landsliders, heavy snow fall difficult to trails etc.
